Following the success of the first and second INERME conferences at the University of Agder, Norway (2024) and the University of Leeds, UK (2025), INERME is delighted to announce its third conference, which will take place on 4–5 March 2027 at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in Tallinn, Estonia.
The conference will bring together researchers, educators, and practitioners interested in the teaching and learning of mathematics within economics education. Continuing INERME’s interdisciplinary ethos, the conference will provide opportunities to share research, exchange teaching practices, and strengthen international collaboration across disciplinary and institutional boundaries.

Conference Format
The conference will run over approximately one and a half days, beginning on the afternoon of Thursday 4 March and continuing throughout Friday 5 March 2027.
The programme will include:
- Keynote
- Research paper presentations
- Workshops
- Panel discussion
- Opportunities for discussion and networking
- An evening walk through Tallinn Old Town followed by a conference dinner on Thursday evening
Conference Themes/Contributions
The conference will welcome contributions related to the teaching and learning of mathematics within economics education.
Conference themes are currently being developed and will be released soon. These themes are intended to help guide submissions and reflect current areas of interest within the field.
INERME welcomes a broad range of contributions, including interdisciplinary work, practical teaching innovations, pedagogical research, and emerging areas relevant to mathematics in economics education.

Submission Information
Contributors will be invited to submit an abstract of approximately 500 words (maximum two pages).

Keynote
INERME is pleased to announce that Steven Proud (University of Bristol) has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the conference.

Publication Opportunity
A special issue of Teaching Mathematics and its Applications on the theme of Mathematics for Economics is planned for publication in 2028.
The special issue will welcome submissions covering any aspect of mathematics education for economics students in post-16 education and is open both to conference participants and to the wider community.
The issue will include:
- Empirical and theoretical research studies
- Literature reviews
- Scholarly and practice-focused contributions on innovative teaching approaches and curriculum development
Details for how to submit articles for consideration for inclusion in the special issue will be made available in due course.
Full article submissions will be due by 31 July 2027.
Registration and Fees
The conference participation fee is expected to be €100 per person.

Accommodation and Travel
Further information regarding accommodation, travel, and the conference venue will be published closer to the conference date, including practical guidance for participants travelling to Tallinn and a campus map for reference.
