INERME Associates

INERME Associates are active members of an international community committed to improving the teaching and learning of mathematics within economics education. Associates share INERME’s mission to advance research, foster collaboration, and offer practical and informal support to educators working in this field.

Becoming an Associate offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of an inclusive network that connects teaching-focused academics, educational researchers, practitioners, and others interested in strengthening mathematics education in economics.

We welcome applications from anyone who shares our vision and wishes to contribute to the development of mathematics education in economics. Associates may be:

  • Academics/Educators
  • Researchers
  • Graduate students
  • Professionals within or beyond academia

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • An interest or experience in teaching and learning mathematics in economics
  • A willingness to engage with INERME activities
  • Enthusiasm for sharing ideas, collaborating on projects, or supporting others in the community

These criteria are intentionally flexible. INERME values openness, curiosity, and potential for collaboration as much as experience or formal achievements. We particularly welcome applicants who value dialogue across disciplines and are willing to engage with perspectives beyond their own academic background.

As INERME continues to grow, the responsibilities of Associates may adapt to the evolving needs of the community. Associates may contribute in ways that align with their interests, skills, and availability, such as:

  • Participating in Associate meetings, discussions, and online exchanges
  • Contributing to INERME events or workshops as presenters, facilitators, or organisers
  • Sharing teaching practices, materials, or case studies that support mathematics in economics education
  • Initiating or joining collaborative research or pedagogical projects
  • Representing and promoting INERME within their institutions, home countries, or through related international networks
  • Acting as a sounding board for the INERME Committee by sharing insights on current developments, community needs, and emerging priorities in the field

Associates gain access to a range of opportunities, including:

  • Connection to an international network of enthusiastic peers
  • Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration on research, events, and publications
  • Recognition on the INERME website and communications
  • Early access to events, calls, and opportunities to contribute
  • A platform to share experiences, innovations, and resources
  • The chance to influence and help shape the development of an emerging research field

Associates are appointed for a renewable term of two years. Renewal is based on mutual agreement and active engagement with the INERME community.

All INERME Associates commit to:

  • Fostering a collegial and inclusive environment
  • Promoting open sharing and constructive feedback
  • Respecting diverse perspectives, disciplines, and contexts
  • Supporting the development of others and contributing to the collective mission of INERME

Applications are welcome at any time and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
